More drivel in the land of Wizard
|
|
Just been too busy to update this page but here's a brief synopsis.
|
| Well, here it is, middle of June and the new dock is still sitting on the shore. Let's see what we can do this weekend guys! Slalom course needs some work as well as the Wizmeister forgot the dimensions of the entrance gate!!! Have to narrow the west gate plus, fix the cable... Work Work Work! |
| Registration forms are available on the Tourneys page above or at wswa.ca We need you to register by June 23rd so that we can get the tournament started as early as possible. If not, bring your form with you on Friday, June 30 and pay a $10 late fee!!!! |

| Besides the famous 41st Wizardworld Cup which will be
held on June 30 to July 1 (Details will be posted in the Tourny section
above, Wizard is introducing it's very first Freeride event with
promises of prizes for just about all who show up. If you want to
join up and have a great time, the contact number is on the poster
above. More on these events will be posted as I get them.
Stay tuned!!!
The WizardWorld Cup will, as usual, be held at Shalom Water Park and will be World Record Capable. There will be a minimum of two full rounds and lots of hot skiing. Be there!!! |
| The Obie and Cindy Slalom Team struggled for 5 hours on June 2 to drag up the old slalom course buried deep in the still overflowing lake and finally put in the last Magnet. Next morning, the "Lost" guy, Donny B. ran into a 14.25 m line on his first time skiing this year. Cindy followed and showed that she will be a force to be reckoned with in her division. However, the Oldmeister, claiming he had bruised ribs from hangin' over the boat made a single pass at 52 K!!! The water is up to around 22 C so, enjoy! |
| Nice rain eh? Glad youse guys tied everything down near the shore or it is someplace else now. Take a gander around the lake in these following pics. As well, we take this auspicious 'aw'pportunity to announce that the weekend of May 12th is official clean-up day. Now we can't really put in a dock because someone broke the last one and a new one needs to be constructed. Good news is that Floyd's road drainage system has kept the bottom half of the road dry albeit the top is a bit wet in the usually spot. No heavy loads please! |
|
At the top left we have the weir somewhere beneath that water and top right we have our sauna shack. Note both the water flooding behind the weir and as well, the washout at or near the sauna shack. I did manage to rescue some boards from the walkway which were floating loose. The creek (bottom right) was running so hard it flooded the trampoline area which I drained and all is now good. As well, the beavers have been hard at work helping Lumberjack Louie with tree removal and may have remodelled Bob's deck. I figures the water's up at least 40 cms higher than last year and the watershed is still draining hard. As it is sooooooo high, you KNOW that there will be prop eatin' floaters out there so keep an eye out. There are also a few docks floating around as well! |

| On a warmish blustery Saturday, April 28, 2007, the ice unofficially disappeared from the front of my cabana. Last Sunday, I had the quad on the ice and one week later, she be gone taking a few docks with her fury. The only thing left of the ice was that pile of debris at the loading ramp. But, as of Sunday, some remnants of this winter's cold and because of an east wind, the ice in front of the Club remained (temporarily of course). This stuff is just crushed ice and it too will make it's way to the east end or just wither away to nothingness. This means that we will be skiing as soon as the first weekend in May, 2007. In fact, a big blue wakeboard boat was the first to ply the waters but quickly returned to shore when they discovered that all was not clear. And of course, no pencils were harmed during the ice-out. |
On a warm and blustery day (April 16), I set out to visit the club on my quad but, decided to turn back on account of the slush (as you can see).

While it's not so bad in front of my place, there are holes from hell out in the middle. Ice could be gone as early as next week if the heat and wind keep up. So, I made a journey on foot to the sloggy trails at the club and came upon Louie the Lumberjack. And, unfortunately, didn't have a camera. Lou was doing another "precision" drop of a sick old poplar tree in his yard. Measuring, calculating and without a clue about how trees fall, took one last slice off the side of his cut and the tree spiraled down barely missing his prized half dead cedar tree! Ha ha ha. You remember Louie eh? He's the one that dropped another tree on the hankmeister's car!
So that's enough for now... In the meantime, you can read this interesting story about Pencils.
Record Snowfalls in the area had contributed to what was going to be an early ice-out. However the April cold snap froze it back up. During the Easter weekend, the sun came back and I'm predicting that we will be seeing open waters in a few weeks. This is what she looked like on Easter Sunday.

Now if it would quit freakin' snowin', we'd be set. The pic by the way, was taken from my quad.
Wizard Lake is still frozen over and thus it is a bit difficult to waterski these days. So, for a wintry treat, I will post a new picture each week or so from this summer's activities.
My hot tub Biaches told me to change the web page so I did and then made her play a little game
