The 2005 Season is done!

Wizard Lake is now frozen over and thus it is a bit difficult to waterski these days.  So, for a wintry treat, I will post a new picture each week or so from this summer's activities. Okay, from all yer card and letter, a yehblah tradition.  The burnin' of the outhouse!

Photos by Joe Zasada

Gawd - it's been awhile!

September 16th:  Time for Yehblah - party till ya puke and it is on tonite!  We got yer rain, cold, a hot tub, plenty of liquid libation and a schit load of wood to burn including someone's outhouse!  The season is just about over and I promise to do a wrap-up soon.  I also have some great pics from the WWC taken by the Joe Meister.  Here are a couple but they have been reduced in size for your enjoyment.  (I mean 2 meg files are a bit much!)

Breanne Wagner

Jaret Llewellyn

Jaret Llewellyn & Breanne Wagner Win!

Jeez, I forgot to tell you who won the 40th WizardWorld Cup 2006!  Actually, Jaret technically only skiied in two Men 3 divisions but even when we didn't count his jump score, he still won!  Click on his name and it will take you to his web site.  Breanne put in some steady performances in all three events almost breaking 5000 in the trick event, jumping over 40 meters and doing the usual 2 at 11.25 in slalom (ho hum).  Congratulations to these two overall champions.  In the junior events, Maddison McCammon took the girls overall division and Matt Weninger took the boys overall title.  Watch for these up and comers in future tournaments!

40th Wizard World Cup 2006

The 40th WWC is now history and as soon as Joey processes about 2500 pics of the event, I either post the linkage to his site or put some up on here.  For the results and scores, click on the Tourny page above.  The event had some spectacular performances where Jaret Llewellyn broke the M3 Trick Record but couldn't figure out how to ski at that slow 55 K slalom speed using a borrowed ski.  As well, Chief Judge Joanne Moore broke the Women's 4 jump record.  But, it was her son, Thomas Moore who PB'd in slalom running 5 1/4 at 10.75!  More info later including the spectacular fireworks and 40th annual reunion partay!

Gettin' Ready for Lots of Stuff

June 16, 2006:  Okay - it's bin awhile but eyeza bin busy!  Lot's of stuff...  The slalom course was inserted by none other than VernO and Cindy in a record 2 hours and it is actually skiable!  Right now we are planning for the big 40th WizardWorld Cup celebrations starting off with a World Record Capable tournament and then the big barbecue.  All are welcome and when I get the time, I will post the info on the Tourny Page on the link above. In the meantime, click on the pic to the right and we will take you into a blast from the past.

Wizard Wankers

(May 6 Weekend)  So's I goes and spends two days to clean the club boat!Clik on me for a bigger pic!  She be a clean machine and ready to rip.  Battery was dead but nobody checked it including myself.  Then since nobody came down to pick it up and put it in the water, I drove to the club in my quad pulling my utility trailer mainly because it was attached.  People were too busy so, I get the Purdy bunch (of extra large boyz) to help me get it in the lake.  Well, they jumps in the trailer and all over the quad (methinks there were six of them) and the "weighted down" crew and myself head back to the Cabana.  About a few hundred meters up the road, I hear squeaking and smell dis rubber smell!  Looks back, and the "weighty bros" had bent the axle on the trailer!  Like I have hauled rocks til the tires were flat with this thing!  But, of course, that's not the end of the story.  So, they all jump on the quad (the tires went flat) and with the combined weight of two large moose, we headed to the cabana literally dragging the trailer behind...  (Click on the trailer to see the quad and imagine an elephant driving it!)

We hook's up the boat (rather the "weighty bros" hooked it up) and were on our way a few klicks to the loading dock.  We get's there and all the boys jump into the boat.  I threw them some paddles, life jackets and a bailing can and dropped them into the water.  Off they go?  Nope...  Remember the battery was dead!  But, of course, thinking ahead, the Wizmeister had a portable booster.  So, we get it started and they drove it over to my cabana, parked it, and tied it up waiting for me.

I jumps in the truck and heads back home.  Remember about the fact that the boyz put the trailer on the hitch?  I'm driving down the road, hits this bump, looks back and lo and behold, the trailer was gone!  I looks to my right as I slowed down and theres the trailer taking a shortcut in the ditch!  Well, needless to say, not only did they not snap the hitch down, but they also didn't put on the safety cables!  Niiiice!

As you can see by these boat pictures, the before and after effects of the Dirty Purdy Posse and the boat!  The interior of the boat was as clean as the swim grid!

As well, note the park job on the lower left!  Seems that they saw this rope and just hooked it up to the boat!  Of course, they didn't bother to check if the rope was tied up or, how long it was!

But it gets even better.  I throws the dirty MUNCHkins (and thats lot of munch!) into the back of the Tahoe and drove back to the Club Site all the while explaining to them how to hook up a boat trailer and the importance of safety chains.

Well lo and behold, it seems thet Louie the Lumberjack was clearing out some trees so he could move his cabana shack up the hill to his cleared out quarters.  It appears he misjudged certain laws of gravity and the importance of falling trees in the proper direction but, he kept a cuttin'.  Well, it seems that the Hankmeister's "beater" (albeaterit - not a chick magnet) is a tree hugger!  BTW - the Hankmeister and his loverly child bride, Carol Kooldip (La princessa Excessa) are still on vacation in Thighland and were not around to see the demise of their Wizard Transportation Vehicle but, they do surf the net!  Click on the pic Hank so you can get the bigger picture.  Note the bent side windshield support which rules out ever putting another windshied in this beater!  heh heh heh...  Ah, don't worry about it Hank!  Just punch the window out and drive without one!  Meanwhile, Louie the Lumberjack has offered to drive you and the Princessa Excessa to the lake and back anytime you want.  I just can't wait to see what will transpire on this coming weekend!  CU there!

Ready to Rip it up!

The lifts are in the water and one dock is floating...  The other was ripped apart by Chainsaw Bob.  A good turn-out to break in the new season.  Click on mom there to the right to check out your clean-up pics.

Ice Out at Wizard

On Friday, April 21, 2006, a big gust of wind tore down Wizard Lake and knocked out the rest of the ice. And to think on April 16, I had the quad out on the pack! So, guess what guys and dolls, it is clean-up time at Wizard and that will be on April 29, 2006 at 10 AM.  Be there and lets get this thing back in shape.  Bring your rakes as well!  These pics are of the lake on Sunday afternoon.  Glass ass calm and about 4 C in temp. - So, bring yer dry suits!  Clik the pic for a bigger image to see the ice hoo haw still hanging round Lintz's Lair.  Also, the sauna shack didn't take it's usual beating! A few boats were on the lake but no ski boats.  However, that should end soon as the Hobster already has his dock out!

Hobb's first to get out in the Water!

Meltdown @ Wizard dot Com

April 18, 2006:  The ice has just broken away from the shoreline and is moving.  Even tho' we had the usual Easter Blizzard, we will be on the waters before May for sure if not sooner.  Club road is a mess - don't even think about it!

Annual General Meetin'

Wake up, winter is dead and the Wizard Annual General Meetin' takes place at 7 PM at the Perthy Page Centre on May 2, 2006.  Email your agenda items to the Wizmeister cause there is lots of stuff including 'lections and other drivel.  Make sure you attend because we are looking at this hot boat for this coming season!  By the way, the ice is melting faster than I expected due to this great spring weather!

The old red scow!

A Small Update for your amusement

(March 31, 2006):  I have added a satellite image of Wizard Lake in the Tournament Section.  Take a peek!

A Wintry Blog on Wizard Lake

(March 15, 2006):  I thought I would kill some time and give you a walk thru of this winter at Wizard.  It has been interesting because we didn't really get any snow until late February.  The lake is now covered in lots of snow but, the lack of it at Xmas time allowed for some interesting skating for miles and kilometerEnd of Wizard Lakes.Wizard Xmas 2006  So with that in mind, I decided to have a peek and part of the lake that nobody sees in summer.  And, I took the old GPS to make sure I could find my way home!  The pic on the right is where I headed.  And a few hours later, 9 kilometers away, the pic on the left shows the end of Wizard Lake.  Now skating down there was okay but, coming back, I realized there was a headwind!  A couple of days later, New Years 2006, Floyd Spasky and the girls came down for a game of hockey.  Ain't they cute?  The Biaches I mean!  .....And so it goes!

First Snow of the Season!A little shinny for ChristmasBy the end of January, we finally got our first snowfall at the lake as you can see by the pic on the left.  Not much but just enough to kill the skating fun!

As winter moves on, and it is now March 15, almost spring, the snow gods descended upon Wizard Lake and dropped a formidable load of snow!  The wind blew hard enough as well to give my boathouse a new overhang!  Even got the quad stuck!  Well, it does ensure that we will have plenty of water this year and the boyz won't be banging props on some of our well know reefs!

A bit o' snow for yo!Coming up, we will have the Wizard Anal Meetin' where minutes are taken and hours are wasted!  Not much else to report at this time 'cept that the ice is pretty much as thick as I have ever seen it and it may take a while to "de-frost"!  My guess is the first week of May but you never know around these parts!  Oh yeah, almost forgot - This year being the 40th Annual WizardWorld Cup Water Ski tournament, we are planning some special events.  If you have any ideas on what the Club should do, send me a note!  As well, I still have a 25 year old Texas Mickey in my basement that needs to knocked off!  Don't know if the pump still works but, Lintzy can always pour it!  Later!  Oh yeah - if you click on the pics, you will get a higher resolution shot!

Technical Problems Solved!

It seems that my silly ftp program was hooped and wouldn't let me into the FTP site for the past 6 months!  Now solved!  Just used Internet Exploiter!

Okay Okay - bin lazy is all!

I am trying to get some of the people from the Club to send pics from this past season but they're too lazy as well.  Bunch of butt heads!  But, I got a few for ya!  At any rate, a bunch of hard working souls arrived on Thanksgiving weekend and ripped out all the docks and boats and stowed them away for the winter.

The big Yehblah Party was held on the third Saturday of September and of course, Jo Jo Sadzada was the victim!  Scragg was unanimous and Tammy was the winner.  And of course, my hot tub got drained again!  More later!  Including information on the big 40th anniversary of the Wizardworld Cup!

Wiz Fire Seen Round the World

As you can see, a pretty spectacular fire happened early on June 14, 2005.  It started at the towering inferno in this pic and with a strong off-shore breeze, spread to 4 homes and a cabin.  Pretty sad day for some people for sure.

All we could do watch as 4 volunteer fire departments from the area struggled in vain to put it out and had to drive a mile to get to the lake to draw water for fire fighting.  Click on the picture for a few more photos including the aftermath.
